The 3 Best MagSafe Accessories for Your iPhone in 2025 | Reviews by Wirecutter

We’ve updated this guide with our favorite MagSafe-compatible accessories.

It’s not particularly tough to plug a cable into your phone when it’s time to charge, but Apple’s MagSafe system makes that simple process even simpler.

MagSafe uses hidden magnets embedded in the phone to align it with the charging components of compatible accessories. So when you sit down at your desk or settle into bed, you can simply slap your phone onto a MagSafe charger. MagSafe doesn’t do anything you can’t do without magnets, but it does make those things slightly more convenient and foolproof.

There’s a small yet meaningful distinction between Apple-approved, MagSafe-branded accessories and those from other companies that simply take advantage of the iPhone’s magnets. True MagSafe supports wireless charging speeds up to 15 watts, which is the fastest wireless charging speed iPhones can achieve; non-MagSafe magnetic charging accessories are limited to 7.5 watts (the same maximum speed that standard Qi chargers provide). That’s the only functional difference, and we recommend a number of accessories that don’t have Apple’s endorsement but are still great options.

We’ve spent countless hours testing most of the MagSafe-compatible iPhone cases, single-device chargers, multi-device chargers, and power banks you can buy today. These are our picks.

Your iPhone should be in a case. And since there are so many good options with MagSafe technology that don’t cost much more than models without it, we think you should choose a MagSafe-compatible case that will allow you to use magnetic accessories just as you would with a bare phone. These cases have magnets matching those embedded in the phone, so you can still connect your device to accessories and charge it wirelessly.

Like previous versions of the case we’ve recommended going back to the iPhone 7, the Gripmunk is a great slim, protective, and affordable case that’s MagSafe-compatible.

If you tend to drop your phone a lot—or you simply don’t want to take any risks when it comes to damage—this phone case is the most protective one we recommend for the iPhone 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16.

Although we haven’t encountered a single case that’s the best option for everybody, we have found a number we like: Smartish’s Gripmunk with MagSafe is a basic yet high-quality case that offers good protection for a low price. Smartish’s Gripzilla with MagSafe—which has a design that prevents dings and cracks better than less expensive cases—is our top choice if you want a little more protection from drops.

Both of these cases offer protection from scratches, a respectable degree of shock absorption if you drop your phone, and an attractive design—without adding too much bulk. And both of them hide the MagSafe system, so from the outside, you can’t even tell it’s there.

We’ve tested dozens of iPhone 12 cases—and iPhone 12 mini, Pro, and Pro Max options too—to find great options for a range of styles and needs.

Apple’s iPhone 13 models are here, and with them a deluge of new case options to keep them safe. These are our favorite cases for almost any scenario.

We don’t think you should carry any Apple iPhone 14 around without a protective case. We have suggestions for just about everybody’s preference.

If you want to protect your pricey purchase, we recommend these iPhone cases.

Our favorite iPhone 16 cases are protective and have a cutout for the new Camera Control button–whether you want a leather, clear, or wallet case.

This wireless charger has MagSafe capabilities and a built-in phone stand that’s especially topple-proof. It comes with its own wall charger, but it’s on the bulkier side.

If you want a wireless charger with an extra-sturdy stand for your desk or nightstand, the Zens Magnetic Nightstand Charger is your best bet. This model comes with its own wall charger, which is completely removable from the body of the unit. It also includes two international plug adapters, so you can use the charger in the EU and UK as well as in the US. But because the wall charger has a barrel-shaped DC connector, you can’t easily replace it if it breaks or swap it out for a (likely more compact) USB wall charger. It’s backed by a three-year warranty, and it has an additional safety and compliance certification.

This wireless charging station can power as many as three devices, and it props up your phone and watch for easy viewing. It comes with its own wall charger, but it takes up more desk space than our other picks.

This wireless charging station has a flat design, with two MagSafe charging pads for an iPhone and AirPods, plus a detachable blotter made of felt and vegan leather. It’s sturdy, stylish, and versatile, but it lacks a phone stand.

This wireless charging station is light and small enough to carry in a pocket. It has a refined look and feel, a handy flip-up watch stand, and charging pads for up to three devices. It’s too cramped for everyday use, but it’s convenient to use when you’re traveling.

For those who are all in on Apple and own an iPhone, an Apple Watch, and AirPods, we recommend Belkin’s MagSafe 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Stand 2nd Gen (WIZ017) as the best multi-device wireless charging station for your nightstand. This modern-art-style charger provides full-speed power to all three devices (15 W charging for the iPhone, 5 W charging for the Apple Watch, and 5 W charging for a set of AirPods), and it comes with its own AC wall adapter. Plus, using the charger is as simple as it gets: Just slap your phone against the pad, and the handset floats in place while charging.

If you like having a desk mat or blotter at your work station, and you want to charge an iPhone and a set of AirPods while you work, the Journey Alti Slim Wireless Charging Desk Mat excels at both. It’s reasonably powerful, easy to use, well built, and versatile—and it looks great on a desk. For travel, we like the Journey Swiv 3-in-1 Foldable Wireless Charging StationApple’s MagSafe Duo Charger. It powers an iPhone, an Apple Watch, and a set of AirPods. Plus, it folds up small enough to fit in a pocket.

Although you can use any wired USB power bank to charge your iPhone, with MagSafe you don’t need a cable. Instead, you just slap a magnetic battery pack on the back of your phone and let it charge, albeit at a slower speed than with a wired connection.

This model can charge most phones up to three times, and its MagSafe wireless charging pad, USB-C PD port, and USB-A port have a combined output of 18 W. Its kickstand is a bit flimsy but still handy.

(deal on white or blue)

The Anker 633 Magnetic Battery, our top pick for the best wireless power bank, is the best choice for charging an iPhone 15 or other compatible device wirelessly when you’re in transit—whether you’re commuting or traveling, or you just need a portable boost of power. It works with any Qi and/or MagSafe device, offering up to 7.5 W wireless charging speeds. And with a rated capacity of 10,000 mAh, it can fully charge most phones up to three times.

The thin metal kickstand works in landscape or portrait orientation, making it useful as a desktop dock or as a source of backup power while you’re watching movies on your handset. It weighs just 7.6 ounces and has a compact, streamlined shape, so it’s easy to slip into a pocket or small purse.

I research and test a wide variety of batteries, including some that are smaller than a Tootsie Roll (for tiny gadgets such as a stylus or penlight) or bigger than an overweight English bulldog (to keep vital electronics running during a power outage or camping trip). To test chargers, I’ve spent countless hours waiting for the batteries in my phone, laptop, and other household appliances to die—just so I could recharge them. Outside of my usual coverage areas, I’ve reported on the best wooden pencils, mousetraps, massage chairs, and scented candles for Wirecutter.
